THESIS
The Cowboy Pecan Pie focuses on a 7-year-old boy who escapes into the imaginary Wild West as a defense mechanism when his neighbor sexually abuses him. There he meets a big talking, fast shooting cowboy who teaches him how to use the power of his voice. As such the story features an emotionally moving and distinctly original take on the coming of age premise while blending magical realism and western genre elements within a poignant drama. The protagonist, Andrew, embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he finds the strength and courage to stand up for himself.
